How osteopathy can help cope with depression and neurosis: a doctor’s advice

Depression, along with other mental illnesses, is one of the most common “diseases” of our time. Most often, we “blame” for this stress, overwork at work, poor ecology, unhealthy lifestyle, worries and bad weather. Sometimes the cause of depression can be not only psychological problems, but also physical ones. The osteopath and cranioposturologist Vladimir Zhivotov tells about the non-obvious reason for the occurrence of a number of mental diseases. In the practice of osteopaths, there are always patients who complain of depression. In addition to specific problems with the musculoskeletal system, they complain of certain mental illnesses, many take antidepressants at the time of treatment.

And people tend to look for the cause of their depression in things that are familiar and obvious to them, such as problems at work, failures and stressful situations that occur in their lives. And almost no one knows that many mental illnesses, including depression, can be associated with problems of the skull, namely, with clamps and limited mobility in the seams of the skull caused by long-standing head injuries.

How it works?
If a person has problems with the skull, the clips, bones of the skull are located incorrectly. Because of this, the vessels feeding the brain are compressed, and the brain does not receive the amount of arterial blood it needs.

And why does he need her?

At a minimum, for normal functioning and the production of hormones responsible for our good mood: oxytocin, endorphin, serotonin and dopamine. All of these hormones are produced in the subcortical centers, the medulla and the frontal lobe. If the brain does not receive enough arterial blood, these areas no longer perform their functions properly, in other words, they do not produce the necessary amount of those “happiness hormones”.

In this case, a person for no apparent reason may be in a state of stress, depression, feel very depressed. And bad weather has nothing to do with it.

And if you constantly stimulate the production of joy hormones with sweets, only a second chin will grow, and the amount of hormones will remain the same until the correct blood supply to the brain is restored. This can be achieved only through osteopathic treatment.

The osteopath restores the correct position of the bones, thus freeing the bones of the skull and the vessels that feed the brain. As a result, the blood supply to the brain is restored, and all its parts function in the way that is provided by nature.

The founder of the cranial direction of osteopathy for a long time studied the peculiarities of the connection of mental diseases with problems of the skull empirically. He clamped his head with belts and other similar devices. After that, he noted that his mental state changed significantly: he became frisky, angry, nervous.

Moreover, in recent years, many scientific papers have been written and a sufficient amount of research has been conducted confirming the fact that osteopathic treatment reduces and even eliminates the manifestation of neuroses in people.

And not only. There are a number of problems that can be addressed through osteopathic treatment. As I noted above, these are neuroses, as well as unstable moods, outbursts of aggressiveness, fatigue, depression, stress, depression.

Body + head
In our body, everything is interconnected. It is impossible to consider separately any of its parts and treat them independently of the rest. If we are talking about mental illness and disorders, you cannot work only with your head and get an excellent result. That is why psychotherapy sessions, reading the relevant literature and antidepressants do not always help people cope with the problem. Yes, they can give temporary relief, but sooner or later this state will “cover” again – at the first strong irritant.

In order to get a stable result, an integrated approach is required: it is important to work with the body and with the head. A large amount of canned information accumulates in the human body. And only the bodily approach helps her to release, which is extremely important when it comes to the treatment of mental illness.
